Anthony Laing and his wife Fiona acquired the business in 1989. Since then, it has grown from a small customer base in Scotland to having customers throughout the UK and abroad. Anthony comes from a family with a strong baking tradition. His father was Lord Laing who was chairman of United Biscuits.
Shortbread House uses only the very best ingredients, most importantly the finest butter which gives their baked goods their unique rich flavor. Their products are hand-made, which makes a huge difference to the texture of the shortbread. Factory-made brands, for example, are pre-molded and baked individually which results in a much denser texture and less homemade appearance. Shortbread House products are made to order. They do not use distributors, preferring to sell direct to their customers. This ensures that the shortbread is enjoyed at its' best!
Shortbread House of Edinburgh's products are the recipient of the prestigious Great Taste Award of Europe.
