The families behind the Shortbread House of Edinburgh come from rich baking traditions. Founded in the 1980's by Anna Wilson, the bakery was originally a one-woman show. Anna used her mother's recipes to create her high quality, handmade biscuits, widely acclaimed as the finest in the U.K.

Enter Anthony Laing and his wife, Fiona, who purchased the business in 1989. Anthony comes from a baking dynasty himself......his father was Lord Laing, chairman of United Biscuits. The Laing's, along with their children Christopher and Rupert, today oversee a business that exports to over 21 countries.

This is shortbread without shortcuts. The company prides itself on doing things properly, producing a range of handmade baked goods whose taste, texture and appearance is far superior to mass produced brands.
