Once considered a favorite spice in colonial America, whole nutmeg is more aromatic than the pre-ground spice. Ours comes from the West Indies, considered to be the source of the highest quality nutmeg available. Use to flavor baked goods, vegetables, meat and cheese dishes, or sprinkle over the top of hot chocolate, eggnog and coffee drinks. Add a pinch to cream sauces or potato soup for exotic flavor!

Whole Nutmeg

For centuries, the word "India" referred to a fabled kingdom in the East known to the western world for its silk, porcelain, spices, sugar, and tea. These treasures traveled westward by caravan over the legendary Silk Road, then from Arabian ports to Europe by sea.
