El Guapo Bitters was founded in New Orleans by bartender Scot Mattox, who began crafting his own bitters to bring new flavors and greater creativity to cocktails. His handcrafted recipes quickly gained a following among bartenders and chefs who appreciated their quality, originality, and strong connection to the culinary traditions of the Gulf South.

The company entered an exciting new chapter when Christa Cotton acquired El Guapo and set out to grow the business while preserving its artisan roots. A New Orleans entrepreneur with a passion for hospitality, storytelling, and entrepreneurship, Christa saw the potential to introduce El Guapo's distinctive flavors to a much wider audience.

Under her leadership, the company expanded its product line, increased national distribution, and became one of the country's most recognized producers of premium cocktail bitters and syrups.

Today, El Guapo is proudly women-owned and operated, producing award-winning bitters, syrups, and mixers inspired by the vibrant food and drink culture of New Orleans.
