Falling Through the Rye
Keeley Ardman DeSalvoShare
This has everything you want from a fall cocktail: the warmth of whiskey, a hint of apple, the holiday come-on of cinnamon and cloves. You can make it by the pitcherful for a holiday party, just top up each glass with the bitters, sparkling water, and cinnamon stick as you pour. It’s nice if the cinnamon stick is at least as tall as your glass so you can use it as a stirrer.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces rye
- 3/4 ounce boiled cider
- Lemon peel
- 2 drops clove-infused bitters
- Splash Saratoga Sparkling Water or Club Soda
- Cinnamon stick
Directions
Fill a tall glass or pitcher with ice cubes and add the rye and boiled cider, stirring until well chilled. Rim a cocktail glass with the lemon peel, drop it in, and fill the glass with fresh ice cubes. Strain the rye-cider mixture into your drinking glass, add the bitters, and top with a splash of sparkling water. Give the whole thing a whirl with the cinnamon stick and serve.
