Jams & Preserves
Curious about small-batch jams? We were too so we put ourselves to the test and tasted dozens before selecting the best of the best on the market today. Cute jars, pretty labels, delicious-sounding flavors: it can be hard to tell which gourmet jams or preserves will really elevate your piece of toast.
The good news is that there's never been a better time for fruit preserves. Interesting flavors like damson plum, sour cherry, lingonberry, and boysenberry are a far cry from the grape jelly we grew up with. And we're lucky, too, that we don't have to can the summer's bounty ourselves when we've got small-batch makers around the country who will do it expertly for us. Sarabeth's, American Spoon, and The Great San Saba Pecan Company are three of our best-sellers, and for good reason. They've figured out how to get homemade jams from their kitchens to ours without being our grandma.
Today, artisans focus on fruit flavor first rather than adding a ton of sugar to their products. That's what separates our selection from mass-produced supermarket brands. The jams and preserves we carry will give you the true flavor of in-season fruit all year long.
Think spreadable peaches over pancakes on a cold winter morning, or strawberry-rhubarb preserves on croissant to kick off your weekend. When you have jars of jam on hand stocked in the pantry, or lined up in the fridge, life is good. Easily transportable and attractively packaged, these jars also make great host/hostess gifts. Keep a bunch on hand for easy giving.
